Couple in Murder-Suicide Identified
Sheriff’s deputies on Sunday released the identities of a 30-year-old woman and her estranged 35-year-old boyfriend, who died in a murder-suicide in their motel room.
Patricia Sollers, 30, of Monrovia, shot and killed Norman Drake, 35, of Sacramento, then shot herself in their room at the Best Rest Inn at the Flying J Travel Plaza truck stop, said Sgt. David Helm. Their bodies were discovered after they failed to check out of the 80-room motel at noon Saturday.
Authorities continue to investigate the sequence of events that led to the murder-suicide, Helm said. It is unclear, pending a coroner’s report, if Sollers killed Drake as he slept.
