County Employees Back 4 Candidates
The union that represents most county government workers has endorsed four candidates in today’s election, including Deputy Public Defender Gary Windom for Superior Court judge.
Representatives for the Service Employees International Union Local 998 said in a statement that Windom, who is running against Assistant Dist. Atty. Kevin McGee and family law attorney Cathleen Drury, “is the only candidate for Superior Court judge with 23 years experience in civil and criminal law.”
The union also endorsed incumbent Tom Mahon for county auditor-controller, incumbent Judy Mikels for county supervisor and James Dodd for assessor.
Mahon is being challenged by businessman Stephen Maulhardt. Mikels is running against paint salesman Jon Palo. Dodd, the assessor’s tax specialist, is among seven candidates vying to replace retiring Assessor Glenn Gray.
The county employees’ union represents more than 4,000 government workers.
