Shroud of Turin
Whether the Shroud of Turin is truly Christ’s burial cloth or not (“On View After 20 Years, Shroud Draws Throngs,” May 25), I can’t help but wonder what people are looking for. If people spent as much time seeking Christ in one another and in themselves as they do in a piece of cloth, perhaps we’d be a lot closer to fulfilling his mission for us. Seeking a spiritual sign? As Elizabeth Barrett Browning wrote, “Earth’s crammed with heaven, / And every common bush afire with God.”
