BancAmerica Robertson Stephens & Co. said investment banking chief Misha Petkevich, 49, will leave once BankBoston Corp. completes its purchase of the San Francisco-based firm. In addition, Paul Sherer, 39, head of telecommunications investment banking, said he has not signed a contract to remain and is both talking with Robertson Stephens about a change of assignment and exploring outside prospects. Petkevich’s leaving will deprive BankBoston of someone who brought in tens of millions of dollars of business. Robertson Stephens announced the departure of founder and Chairman Sanford Robertson, 67, last week with news of BankBoston’s $800-million purchase of the firm from BankAmerica Corp. Petkevich was traveling and couldn’t be reached for comment. Last week, Robertson said it signed employment contracts with about 150 of 156 partners and key employees.
