* Business-management software maker PeopleSoft Inc. said it will buy closely held Alameda-based Intrepid Systems Inc. for $57.7 million in stock to offer software that helps retailers manage their inventory. Pleasanton-based PeopleSoft plans to issue 1.37 million shares to acquire Intrepid through a pooling of interests.
