Thompson, Dorfman Promoted

William W. Thompson has been named executive vice president of Irvine Apartment Communities, a Newport Beach real estate investment trust. He is president of the company’s California division and oversees the company’s expansion program into rental markets in the Silicon Valley and coastal San Diego. Bruce N. Dorfman was appointed senior vice president. He joined the company in 1997, and has held senior positions with Trammell Crow Residential, Piedmont Realty Advisors and Wells Fargo Bank’s Real Estate Industries Group.

Gregory E. Presson has been appointed chairman and chief executive of of L.H. Friend, Weinress, Frankson and Presson Inc., an Irvine investment banking firm. After joining the firm in 1992, he became a partner in 1995 and was most recently president. He continues as head of investment banking. Succeeding him as president is Carl E. Frankson, who joined the firm in 1985 as partner and senior managing director of trading. Stephen D. Weinress, senior managing director of research and a partner, has been named vice chairman and a member of the board of directors. Patrick S. Bannister, chief financial officer, has been given the additional responsibilities of chief operating officer. He was also named to the board of directors.

Michelle Watts has been named a business development officer for Marine National Bank in Irvine. She previously held similar positions with Pacific Summit Capital, the Orange County Business Journal and Reed Reference Publishing.

John McCauley has joined Scripps Bank as senior vice president and regional administrator for Orange County. He is responsible for an office near John Wayne Airport, expected to open in the third quarter. McCauley’s previous experience includes serving as executive vice president at Eldorado Bank, executive vice president and board member at Bank of Commerce in San Diego, assistant vice president, business banking at Wells Fargo Bank and senior training officer at Bank of America, San Diego and Los Angeles.

Shawn Cunningham has been appointed to the newly created position of director of strategic planning for Intermark Corp., a wholly owned subsidiary of Innovus Corp. He was previously vice president of product marketing for Innovus Multimedia. Intermark is a provider of sales and marketing services in Newport Beach.

Francis Lesaffre has been named vice president of operations for all European repair and logistics services by Tustin-based Cerplex Group Inc. in Tustin. He will remain president and general manager of Cerplex S.A.S in Lille, France.

Michael J. Perrotta has been appointed vice president of operations and service for Anaheim-based CalComp Technology Inc.’s Digital Printing Systems division. Perrotta has 15 years of experience in the digital printing industry, including directing marketing efforts and operations for Eastman Kodak’s Business Imaging Systems division.

Kristina Futak has been named field marketing manager for Coors Brewing Co. in Irvine. She is responsible for retail promotions and sports and entertainment sponsorships for Coors’ Southwest region, which includes Southern California, Hawaii and Nevada. Futak was previously associate marketing manager at the Pepsi Cola Co.

Cindy A. Jelenic has been appointed sales representative for Australia-New Zealand Direct Line in Santa Ana, responsible for handling accounts throughout Southern California. She succeeds Roy Beagle, who transferred to the Australia office as an account executive. Jelenic joined the company two years ago and was most recently a refrigerated commodities coordinator.

T. Michael McLean has joined Toshiba America Medical Systems in Tustin as vice president of the ultrasound business unit. McLean had been vice president and management board member for Johnson and Johnson Clinical Diagnostics for two years. Prior to that, McLean worked for Beckman Instruments for 15 years in a variety of positions including director of North America sales and marketing, area business manager, program manager, product marketing manager and North America sales planning manager. In addition, Eli Wisner was named director, ultrasound sales. He was previously general manager for Percusurge Inc. in Sunnyvale, and vice president of Laserscope Surgical Systems in San Jose. Ross Heaton was appointed director, ultrasound marketing. He was formerly senior vice president of marketing and sales for Perception Ultrasound International in Bothel, Wash., and director of marketing and international marketing manager for Philips Ultrasound International in Irvine.

Reed M. Williams has joined the Irvine law firm of Oswald & Yap. He was formerly a partner at Graham & James, and one of the founding partners of Williams, Woolley, Cogswell, Nakazawa & Russell.

Dee Wells has been named executive director for the Rancho Santa Margarita Landscape and Recreation Corp. She is a regional manager for Merit Property Management Inc. in Mission Viejo.

Kurt Tetzlaff has been named director of business development for MBK Construction Ltd., a division of MBK Real Estate Ltd. in Irvine. Before joining the company, he was business development manager/Southwest U.S. for Carlson Design/Construction Corp.

Mike Jones has been appointed color and network marketing executive at Xerox Corp.’s South Coast operations in Santa Ana. He had been color systems analyst for three years.

Lisa Zwick has been named director of the Southern California office of the Benjamin Group Inc. in Santa Ana. She joined the public relations and marketing firm in 1995 as a senior associate. Before that, Zwick was at Maples & Associates.

Florent Marneau has been named executive chef of Pinot Provence, a restaurant scheduled to open the first week in August at the Westin South Coast Plaza hotel in Costa Mesa. He most recently served as chef de cuisine at Aubergine in Newport Beach, and before that at Pascal in Newport Beach.

Dan Steiber has been appointed vice president of retail marketing for Bergen Brunswig Drug Co., a subsidiary of Bergen Brunswig Corp. in Orange. He was formerly director of business development. Before joining Bergen in 1996, Steiber was director of clinical programs and pharmaceutical marketing manager for Longs Drug Stores and its prescription benefits management company. In addition, Chuck Prieve, formerly vice president of retail sales and marketing, has been named vice president, retail sales and national accounts.

Bobbie Cooper has joined Furon Co., a Laguna Niguel manufacturer of products made from polymer materials, as manager, marketing communications. Cooper was formerly director, marketing services, for Bourns Inc. in Riverside.

Mulu G. Michael has been named president of OptimumCare Corp., a Laguna Niguel provider of inpatient and outpatient behavioral health services. She was also elected a board member, and continues as chief operating officer. Michael joined OptimumCare in 1994 as a program administrator, and in 1997 was named executive vice president and chief operating officer.
