The United States can win the women’s world basketball championship by beating a team it already handled easily.

The U.S. team remained unbeaten with a 93-79 victory over Brazil in Saturday’s semifinals. In today’s championship game, the United States will play Russia, a team it beat earlier in the tournament by 36 points.

Russia beat previously unbeaten Australia, 82-76, in the other semifinal.

The United States was upset by eventual champion Brazil in the semifinals in 1994, and the Brazilians had a one-point lead at the half Saturday. But Lisa Leslie (16 points and 16 rebounds), Natalie Williams (16 points, 13 rebounds) and Ruthie Bolton (16 points) led the Americans in the second half.

“I think our depth definitely takes its toll on people because we have some good players who can come in and give us some good minutes off the bench,” U.S. Coach Nell Fortner said.
