I was founded by three cousins in 1876. I was soon making and selling the product I’m most famous for today, and also pickles. I’m known for my innovative marketing and advertising--I distributed pickle pins at the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair. In 1900 I turned on Manhattan’s first giant electric sign: a 40-foot pickle. Few competitors could catch up to me by then, as I was already selling hundreds of items all over the world. My brand names today include Ore-Ida, Star-Kist, 9 Lives, Gravy Train, Budget Gourmet and Weight Watchers. I’m headquartered near the Monongahela River. Who am I?

Last Week’s Trivia Answer

My origins can be traced back to an 18th century maker of artificial mineral water in Switzerland and a 19th century English purveyor of tea and coffee. In my icebox you’ll find Seven-Up, A&W;, Canada Dry, Clamato, Dr Pepper, Orange Crush and Squirt. Despite my big beverage business, nearly half my revenue comes from confections. I’ve acquired many companies, such as Peter Paul Inc. back in 1978. My products are cranked out in some 100 plants all over the world and are sold in more than 200 countries. My chairman is a knight. Who am I?
