Fantasy Island Resort to Be Auctioned Off

Share

Fantasy Island, the 23-acre entertainment venue that has been the source of numerous legal battles over the last five years, will be offered for sale at a public auction July 9.

The property is owned by members of the Datner family.

In the past, homeowners on Triunfo Canyon Road had complained that the resort was too noisy and caused traffic congestion. Neighboring residents have filed hundreds of complaints concerning zoning permits and business licenses.

The entertainment complex originally went on the market six weeks ago, but according to Tim Pluma, a real estate broker with Capital Commercial, the Datners want to sell the property quickly.

“The owners have had quite a lot of controversy with Los Angeles County concerning the property and wanted it to move quickly,” said Pluma, whose firm will conduct the auction. The latest asking price was $2.9 million, Pluma said.

Calls to the Datners’ attorneys were not returned.

There have been offers to turn the property into a youth camp or estate-home subdivision--offers that promise to be “easier on the neighborhood than a restaurant,” Pluma said.

The facility--which includes a 7,500-square-foot home, three ponds and a stable--also has a $160,000 bridge that extends across Triunfo Creek.
