Boy, 16, Arrested in Brother’s Stabbing
A 17-year-old boy was stabbed in the chest by his 16-year-old brother Thursday and hospitalized in critical condition, authorities said.
The stabbing took place about 2:10 p.m in an apartment in the 5600 block of N. Yolanda Avenue, said Los Angeles Police Det. Rick Swanston. The older boy underwent surgery and is expected to survive, Swanston said.
The younger was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and was being held late Thursday in Sylmar Juvenile Hall. It was not clear what sparked the attack.
Three girls who also were in the apartment when officers arrived were taken to the LAPD’s West Valley station and then released.
