Opera Pacific has confirmed it is negotiating to present baritone Rodney Gilfry in Andre Previn’s new “A Streetcar Named Desire” for its fall season, but a spokesman for the Costa Mesa-based company “has not signed off” on the production yet. The Previn opera will receive its premiere at San Francisco Opera in September. If the Previn opera is secured, dates here are expected to be Nov. 9-14. Opera Pacific has announced Puccini’s “Madama Butterfly” to open the season, Nov. 3-8 at the Orange County Performing Arts Center in Costa Mesa.
