Consultants

I can see why the consultants were against Proposition 224. In reading “State Computers Fall Short in Welfare Reform” (June 15), it appears that the only people working are consultants, not state employees. A consultant was hired to do the work. Another consultant was hired to determine if the first consultant came to the right conclusion. Since the second consultant differed, another consultant was hired to review the work of the previous two consultants.

Maybe some of the money should have been used to hire welfare recipients to brainstorm the best method to keep track of themselves. They may not be able to write the program, but they probably know enough about the system to help to analyze it.
