Euphemism

Re “It’s Official: Eschew Obfuscation,” editorial, June 3: It’s wonderful to hear that the government is going to begin using straight-forward, everyday English instead of indecipherable jargon. Now if we could just get the press to stop referring to nuclear bombs as nuclear “devices.” Every time I read this Orwellian euphemism I want to put a gunpowder device to my head.
