Managing career--Had 173-149 record with two playoff appearances before becoming the first Dodger manager to be fired since Charlie Dressen in 1953. Had 136-150 record with the Albuquerque Dukes during the 1992 and ’93 seasons.

GLENN HOFFMAN PROFILE

Born--July 7, 1958, in Orange.

Playing career--Second-round selection in June 1976 free agent draft after graduating from Savanna High School in Anaheim. Played nine major league seasons as an infielder with Boston (1980-87), the Dodgers (1987) and the Angels (1989). Made Topps and Baseball America all-rookie team in 1980, batting .285 with four homers and 42 RBI in 114 games. Ended career with a .242 batting average, 23 home runs and 210 RBI.

Managing career--Started in Rookie League in 1991 and moved up a level each season. Became triple-A manager with Dodgers in Albuquerque in 1997. Appointed manager of Dodgers late Sunday night.
