New Principal Resigns Before Beginning Job

The newly selected principal of Calabasas High School has resigned before stepping into the job.

Lynn McCormack resigned earlier this week for personal reasons, according to the district. She was to begin Aug. 1.

The Las Virgenes Unified School District began a new search this week for the successor of Bob Sutton, who retired at the end of this school year.

“It’s quite a shock,” Deborah Coleman, assistant superintendent of personnel, said. “Now we are going to have to start all over.”

The district will post the position with the Assn. for California Administrators, a publication that list positions at all of California public schools.

“This is a real surprise and rarely happens,” Coleman said.

An interim principal will be selected to run the school until a permanent replacement is found.
