Pedro Martinez, last year’s National League Cy Young Award winner, pitched two scoreless innings in his Boston debut as the Red Sox beat the Minnesota Twins, 11-3, Sunday at Fort Myers, Fla.

Martinez, traded by Montreal to Boston on Nov. 18, gave up two singles and was credited with the victory. He struck out two and threw a wild pitch.

Brad Radke, 20-10 for the Twins last year, gave up six runs in the first inning and left after two innings trailing, 6-0. A throwing error by third baseman Ron Coomer made four runs unearned.

Before the game, Coomer signed a three-year contract.

Mo Vaughn, who hit two homers in his first game Saturday, singled twice and drove in a run in three at-bats for Boston.

Vaughn left after the game for his trial today in Massachusetts on a charge of operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and failing to stay in his lane in connection with an accident Jan. 9.

Dwight Gooden struggled in his first game for Cleveland, but home runs by David Miller and Russell Branyan rallied the Indians from a five-run deficit for a 6-5 victory over the Kansas City Royals at Haines City, Fla.

Gooden gave up four runs in two innings.
