Drop in Sales Expected at California Amplifier

Share

California Amplifier in Camarillo said that preliminary sales results for the fourth quarter and year ending Feb. 28 will probably be slightly lower than results from a year ago.

Last year’s fourth-quarter sales were $8.9 million. Sales for the 1998 fiscal year are expected to be about $47 million, compared with $49.3 million for the 1997 fiscal year.

Fourth-quarter and year-end financial results are scheduled to be released April 8, after the company’s annual audit examination.

“Sales for the fourth quarter are being impacted by continued softness in sales of wireless cable products and the timing of shipments of certain satellite products,” said Fred Sturm, chief executive officer.

Sturm said the company expects to report an operating loss for the fourth quarter. However, he said the company’s cash position should improve slightly from third-quarter levels because of a continued focus on asset management.

Several products will be introduced during the first quarter of the 1999 fiscal year, Sturm said.

California Amplifier makes products used to receive microwave signals for multichannel television.
