Memorial Service to Honor Longtime School Official

The Redondo Beach Unified School District has scheduled a memorial service Mondayto celebrate the life of Shirley Rogers, the assistant superintendent who served the district for nearly 50 years and died last week of leukemia.

Rogers, who began her career in the district as an elementary school teacher in 1950, will be honored in a service at the Shirley Rogers Student Services Center at 1107 Vincent St. at 3:30 p.m. The district honored Rogers last year by naming the center for her.
