Final Battle of Bibbys?

Share

When Arizona and USC play at the Sports Arena on Thursday, it will be the fourth time USC Coach Henry Bibby and his son Mike Bibby, the Wildcats’ sophomore guard, compete against each other.

There is speculation that Bibby, one of the nation’s top point guards, will make himself available for the NBA draft in June.

“Hopefully, this is the last time we play against him,” Henry Bibby said jokingly. “I’ve talked to people from the New York Knicks and the Detroit Pistons and they all say he’s ready for the NBA.”

Bibby is averaging 17.2 points, 2.5 steals and 6.1 assists a game.

So how does the son compare to the father, an All-American when he played at UCLA.

“Oh, he’s better than I was,” Henry said. “He has much more basketball savvy than I did. I worked hard and it looked like I was working hard. He has so many gifts, he makes it look easy.”
