FULLERTON : Mother Plans Vigil Tonight for Son Slain 2 Years Ago

Share

Bobbi Gorena tonight will mark the second anniversary of the death of her son with a candlelight vigil at Nicolas Junior High School.

Her son, Troy, 16, was killed March 5, 1996--stabbed on a neighborhood street corner. His killers remain at large.

“I want a public outcry,” said Gorena, who has been trying to raise funds for a reward for anyone who provides information leading to the arrest and conviction of her son’s killers. “Maybe it will help so that this won’t happen again.”

Gorena said she will honor her son with a prayer, inspirational songs and poetry during the 7:30 p.m. vigil.

“I just wish people would have been able to get to know Troy,” the 48-year-old mother said. “He had a warm smile and nice greeting for everybody. He was a very generous, caring and kind person.”

The school is at 1100 W. Olive Ave.
