Sally Dool; Nursery and Kindergarten Teacher

Thousand Oaks resident Sally Dool, a former nursery school and kindergarten teacher, died of heart failure Monday at Los Robles Regional Medical Center. She was 81.

Born Dec. 17, 1916, in Rockford, Ill., she lived in Ventura County for the past three decades. She taught for many years at the Honey Tree Nursery School and Kindergarten in Thousand Oaks.

In her youth, she enjoyed playing baseball and golf. Later, she was an avid reader, and became a member and volunteer at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Thousand Oaks.

Dool, whose husband, Leo Dool, died in 1982, is survived by sons Scott F. Dool of Thousand Oaks and David L. Dool of Tucson; daughters Sandy L. Gusick of Thousand Oaks and Shari L. Barnes of La Conchita; sisters Frances Davis, Fern Laurence, Lois Bridge and Lucille Kleinhaus , all of Illinois, Agnes Fleming of Florida and Dorothy Larson of Thousand Oaks; 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks Mortuary, 5600 Lindero Canyon Road, in Westlake Village. A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 667 Camino Dos Rios, in Thousand Oaks.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in the name of Dool and her husband to the American Lung Assn. or a memorial fund at Redeemer Lutheran Church.
