Canyon 7, Riverside North 2--Jason Reuss had three hits and three RBIs for host Canyon (1-0), which will play Cypress in the next round.

El Dorado 2, Western 1 (8)-- Mark Wade’s two-out single to right-center field scored Scott Hazen with the winning run. Hazen had 11 strikeouts before giving way in the seventh to E.J. Ochoa, who picked up the victory.

C.J. Rice homered in the fifth inning for El Dorado.

Fountain Valley 6, Downey 5--Fountain Valley scored the game-winner in the seventh on a dropped pop fly with the bases loaded. Todd Daniels hit a two-run home run in the fourth for the Barons (1-0).

Loara 16, Anaheim 2--Jacob Kungl hit two home runs for visiting Loara (1-0).

Ocean View 6, La Mirada 3--Battery-mates Pete Montrenes and Anthony Vega each went four for four for Ocean View. Montrenes pitched a complete game with 12 strikeouts for Ocean View, which will play Edison in the second round.

Servite 15, San Clemente 5--John Southern had three hits and two runs scored and Mike Montanio and Ben Francisco each had two RBIs for Servite.

In the Costa Mesa tournament:

Los Amigos 5, Santa Ana 4--Brandon Becker’s double in the bottom of the seventh inning scored Robert Ramirez to win a first-round game for Los Amigos (1-0), which plays Costa Mesa in the second round.

Mission Viejo 14, Bolsa Grande 1--Scott Carr had a home run and five RBIs and Chris Willmer had a home run and four RBIs for Mission Viejo (1-0).

In the El Segundo tournament:

Westminster 4, Gardena 2--Mike Carey struck out 13 and also had three hits and two RBIs for host Westminster (1-0).

In the Newport Elks tournament:

Foothill 10, Corona del Mar 8--Jon Stephens scored on an RBI single by Ricky Hjorth in the top of the seventh for Foothill (1-0).

Nick Hood, Tim Thurman and Matt Larson each hit home runs for Corona del Mar (0-1).

Tustin 7, Capistrano Valley 0--Chad Chop pitched a six-hitter with nine strikeouts for Tustin (1-0). Todd Scott had two hits and three RBIs for the Tillers.

Aliso Niguel 14, Compton 0--Drew Parkin struck out the first seven batters he faced and Jay Sievers went three for three with two RBIs for Aliso Niguel (1-0), which will host El Modena today in the second round.

El Modena 10, Compton Dominguez 0--Mike Walters drove in four runs for the Vanguards.

La Quinta 2, Santa Fe Springs St. Paul 1--Junior Steve Lee pitched a two-hitter, walking one and striking out four for the host Aztecs, who will host Bellflower in the second round today.

Santa Ana Valley 4, Inglewood 0--Danny Montoya and Larry Chavez combined on a one-hitter for Santa Ana Valley (1-0). Montoya pitched four innings and gave up a double. Chavez only needed 25 pitches in the final three innings.

Trabuco Hills 7, Corona La Sierra 0--Todd Gelatka pitched a one-hitter, with 11 strikeouts and two walks.

Valencia 5, Whittier Christian 4--With two outs in the bottom of the seventh, Steve Ceballos singled home Jason Annis from third with the winning run for host Valencia (1-0). David Towery hit a two-run home run and Annis had three hits and pitched a third of an inning to earn the victory for the Tigers.

Heritage Christian 3, Ontario Christian 2--Ryan Myrtle’s ground out with one out in the top of the seventh scored Brian Hancock with the eventual winning run for visiting Heritage Christian (1-0).
