New Executive Named at Smartflex

* Anthony Richardson has joined Smartflex Systems Inc., a Tustin provider of electronic manufacturing services, as executive vice president and chief operating officer. He will have primary responsibility for worldwide operations, marketing, sales and business development. Richardson was previously with Raychem Corp. for 20 years, where his positions included director of operations, director of sales and marketing and general manager for businesses in Asia, North America, South America, Europe and the Middle East.

* Earl S. Washington has been named senior vice president of marketing and communications for Rockwell International Corp. in Costa Mesa. He had been senior vice president of communications and before that vice president of advertising and public relations.

* Doug Ashmore has been appointed vice president and director of manufacturing at Amvac Chemical, a subsidiary of American Vanguard Corp. in Newport Beach. William A. Feiler is the new vice president and director of technology. Ashmore was formerly plant manager of Amvac’s Los Angeles facility. Feiler was formerly director of technology.

* Avram Grossman has been named vice president of the new Internet information technology unit of Garden Grove-based Dense-Pac Microsystems Inc. Grossman was previously manager of business and technology development for Samsung America. Before that, he was director of corporate research and development at Toshiba America Information Systems.

* Glenn Mondo has joined the new law firm of Weule, Broyles, Ballard & Mondo LLP in Costa Mesa. He will continue to specialize in real estate, business and employment law.

* Denise Strohmayr has been named credit services manager for HomeBase Inc. in Irvine. She was formerly lead help-desk coordinator for the home improvement retailer. Before joining HomeBase, Strohmayr worked for Boscov’s Stores in Pennsylvania for five years where she held positions of assistant store manager, assistant buyer and business systems analyst.

* Eric Martin has been appointed director of business development for Strategic HR Services in Newport Beach, a wholly owned subsidiary of CB Commercial/Koll Management Services. He was formerly district field manager for Kelly Services’ staff leasing division, and before that, sales and marketing manager with Del Mar Real Estate Investments.

* Alan S. Colodner has joined CNA Trust, a Costa Mesa retirement and pension trust company, as vice president and East Coast regional sales director. He will be based in the New York City office.

* Paul T. Johnson has been named vice president of community development for Rancho Mission Viejo, LLC, the company responsible for the ranching, farming, planning, development and financial management of the 30,000-acre Rancho Mission Viejo. Johnson had been a vice president for Catellus Residential Group and before that, a project manager for the Fieldstone Co.’s Orange County division. From 1984 to 1998, he was director of project development for the Santa Margarita Co.

* Ronald E. Taylor has joined the Irvine Co. as director of leasing in the retail properties division in Newport Beach. Taylor has previously worked for Starbucks Coffee Co., Boston Market, PepsiCo and the Hahn Co.

* Helen Wilson has been appointed executive director of the Orange County chapter of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation in Irvine. She joined the foundation last year. Wilson, the immediate past mayor of Lake Forest, had been resource development associate for the Boys and Girls Club of Santa Ana.

* George A. Jurica has been elected president of the Orange County branch of the American Society of Civil Engineers. Jurica is founder and principal of Penco Engineering Inc. in Irvine.

* Lindsay Smith has joined Laughlin-Wilt Group Inc., an electronics contract manufacturer, as regional vice president. Smith, based in Lake Forest, will be responsible for the company’s expansion into Southern California and the Southwest. He formerly spent five years as director of North American operations for Arrow Electronics’ kitting division, was with North American Philips for 10 years and was vice president, operations and materials, at New Media Corp. in Irvine.

* J.W. Huntsberger, vice president of Marine National Bank, has been named senior lending officer. Previously, he had been manager of the headquarters office in Irvine.

* Greg Montgomery has been appointed vice president, managing director of Irvine-based BAX Global’s agent network. He will continue s managing director for the company-owned affiliates in Canada and Latin America. Montgomery joined BAX Global n 1988 from WTC Air Freight, which was acquired by BAX.

* Valerie Clark is the new manager of internal corporate communications for NexGen SI Inc. in Irvine. She was formerly president of Maverick Productions, a Irvine marketing firm. Clark has also held marketing management and sales positions at TRW in Redondo Beach and Xerox in Torrance.
