Ethnic Mixing

* Re “Ethnic Mixing in Lower Grades Pays Later, Students Say,” March 2.

Your puff piece on the alleged advantages of forced integration of elementary schools in Moorpark seems to have been designed more to sanction the actions of the school board than to present any objective evidence on the subject.

Forcing children to attend remote schools merely to mix the races is a social experiment whose results are at best dubious.

Councilman [Bernardo] Perez’s suggestion that real estate agents inform prospective buyers that their children may not be allowed to attend the nearest schools should bring joy to every slow-growth advocate in Moorpark! How about returning to the concept of neighborhood schools instead?
