City Might Ban Park Skateboarding

Share

City officials may ban skateboarding at Camarillo’s Constitution Park next to City Hall because of damage caused by the activity.

Tiles in the Constitution Park pavilion have been replaced at least once a year because of damage caused by skateboarders, officials said. Park benches also have been damaged.

City staff has recommended that City Council members decide Wednesday evening to ban skateboarding at the park.

The park district’s skateboard park--which will be at the corner of Ponderosa Drive and Temple Avenue--should be open by June, officials said. At 102,500 square feet, it would be the largest public skateboard park in Ventura County.
