House in Drug Abatement Suit May Be Sold, Judge Told

A drug abatement lawsuit against a homeowner may be settled if he sells the house before the matter goes to trial, attorneys told a judge Monday.

Superior Court Judge David Workman issued a preliminary injunction against J.T. Williams in February, barring drug trafficking from the Farmdale Avenue home, which is 50 yards from Dorsey High School.

Although Williams has not been connected to drug dealing, city officials want to hold him responsible for what goes on at the home and have sought a permanent injunction against him to ensure that stiffer penalties could be applied if the activity continues, according to city attorney’s office spokesman Mike Qualls.

The suit is the second brought against the homeowner by the city in three years. Undercover officers bought rock cocaine at the house in September and October and obtained a search warrant. They seized six glass pipes with cocaine residue and confiscated a shotgun, revolver and ammunition.
