Goldie is one of techno’s big-thinking conceptualists. Rather than go for the quick adrenaline jolt, he likes to slowly build his epic compositions from the ground up, snatching bits and pieces from other musical genres along the way. His second album, a two-CD set, is a would-be magnum opus. The first disc, an extended orchestral suite, is an amorphous and aimless misstep, but the second disc matches his first album, ‘Timeless,” for relentless invention.

Albums are rated on a scale of one star (poor), two stars (fair), three stars (good) and four stars (excellent).
