Postal Service Offers Reward in Robbery

The U.S. Postal Service is offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of any of the three men who robbed a North Hollywood post office during the weekend, authorities said Sunday.

The robbers were each described as black, about 6 feet tall and weighing between 180 and 200 pounds, said U.S. Postal Inspector Pamela Prince.

A surveillance video shows that one of the men was wearing a Nike baseball cap, and another was wearing Lugz sneakers, the brand name visible on the bottom of his shoe as he vaulted a counter in search of cash.

“They all look like ghosts of each other; they were tall with slender builds, wearing dark clothes and hooded sweatshirts,” Prince said.

About 2:30 p.m. Saturday, three men, at least two armed with silver semiautomatic pistols, ordered six customers to the floor of the Chandler Station Post Office in the 11300 block of Chandler Boulevard. As one gunman stood guard at a door, two men vaulted over the counter and ordered two postal clerks to open their cash registers.

The gunman at the door robbed the customers of their purses and wallets.

The three robbers fled in a compact silver car. The car was possibly driven by a fourth robber, Prince said.

Anyone with information about the robbery is urged to call U.S. Postal Inspectors at (626) 405-1200.
