Spotlight: Chevron to Open Chain of Takeout Food Stores

San Francisco-based Chevron Corp. said it plans to launch a chain of stand-alone, takeout food stores, called Foodini’s, that would offer prepackaged meals for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The first Foodini’s will open this month in San Ramon, and 12 other pilot stores are planned. “Chevron’s mission is to become a leading convenience retailer, not just a purveyor of gasoline,” said spokesman Dale Walsh. Chevron declined to say how much it’s investing in the markets.
