First American Buys Mortgage Software Firm

First American Financial Corp. said it has signed a definitive agreement to buy Contour Software.

Contour, based in Northern California, will become a wholly owned subsidiary of First American Real Estate Information Services Inc. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Contour supplies software products to mortgage lenders. The firm has 100 employees and 25 sales representatives nationwide.

First American, which has more than 400 branch offices, provides real estate-related financial and information services.
