Airlines Raise Fees for Ticket Changes

The major U.S. airlines are making it more costly to change your mind, raising the fee for re-ticketing from $50 to $75. The increase has been added gradually; last month, American joined the trend. "We were about the last to come in [on the increase]," said American spokesman Bill Dreslin in Fort Worth. "The idea is cut down on the volume of these activities." The charge is typically imposed for any ticket changes, from itinerary changes to postponements.
