Chinese officials from the Port of Guangzhou signed an agreement Monday with the Port of Los Angeles to increase cooperation on trade between the two countries.

Officials at the two ports will discuss international harbor issues and exchange information about environmental and engineering concerns, new electronic communications technologies, and trade and statistical data.

“Our partnership will help to open doors of opportunity to international trade, and most importantly, to keep a long-standing alliance and fellowship with the Port of Guangzhou,” said Leland Wong, president of the Los Angeles Harbor Commission.
