* A federal judge refused to set a new timetable for the Teamsters election rerun, telling a court-appointed election overseer that scheduling would have to wait until an investigation into candidate James P. Hoffa was completed. But U.S. District Judge David Edelstein did grant election officer Michael Cherkasky’s request to let candidates for union office join new slates for the rerun, a contest being held because of fund-raising violations by incumbent President Ron Carey.

* America Online Inc. is shutting down the Hub, an area on its online service that catered to young men in their 20s, as it moves away from original programming. AOL and New Line Cinema, its partner in the Hub joint venture, haven’t decided whether its 25 employees would be laid off.

* Coldwater Creek Inc. said demand for women’s clothing in its Spirit of the West catalog may have started falling in its fiscal fourth quarter, and said its costs rose on higher circulation expenses. The announcement sent its shares plunging $11.13 to close at $27.13 on Nasdaq.

* PepsiCo Inc.’s Frito-Lay Co. is introducing a chip called Tostitos Nachos, a firm corn snack designed to hold toppings, along with two new dip flavors, as part of its strategy to increase its share of the snack business. An ad campaign featuring comedian Chris Elliott in a “Beverly Hillbillies” episode will introduce the new chips, the company said.
