Childs Derides L.A. Brain Trust for Late Switch

New York Knick guard Chris Childs calls Clipper coach Bill Fitch “brain dead” for taking guard James Robinson out of the final minutes of Wednesday night’s game at the Sports Arena, which the Knicks won, 77-76.

“Somebody over on that other bench was brain dead for taking Hollywood [Robinson] out of the game,” Childs told a reporter from the Newark (N.J.) Star-Ledger. “He provided the spark, he brought them back and they took him out. Makes no sense.”

Said Fitch in response to Childs: “The only thing I can say about him is that he’s got a good agent.”

Robinson scored 15 points in 23 minutes, making six of eight from the floor, including all three of his three-point shots.

Fitch took him out for the final 2:21, and the Clippers didn’t score again while giving up the final four points of the game to the Knicks.
