A 14-year-old boy was arrested by Pomona police detectives in connection with the shooting deaths of two teenage boys and the wounding of a third youth, police said Friday.

The boy, a Pomona resident whose name was withheld because of his age, was arrested at a home in Fontana on Thursday night, according to authorities.

He is suspected in the deaths of Hector Manuel Lopez, 14, and Andres Azocar, 17, both of Pomona. The boys died in a gun battle Tuesday behind Philadelphia Elementary School after classes had ended. A 15-year-old was wounded in the same incident, authorities said.

According to police reports, the suspect and the two dead teenagers were described as members of rival “party crews.”

The two groups had argued before, and a member of each crew decided to meet at the school to settle the dispute, authorities said.
