CHARITY CONCERT: American Lutheran Church will present a concert of highlights from G.F. Handel’s “Judas Maccabaeus” to benefit the Burbank Temporary Aid Center at 3 p.m. Sunday at the church, 755 N. Whitnall Highway, Burbank. Performers include the American Lutheran Chancel Choir, the Kirk o’ the Valley Choir and a professional string ensemble, with conductor Tom Osborn, chairman of the instrumental program at Pepperdine University in Malibu. The concert will raise funds to help maintain community services at Burbank Temporary Aid Center, which has assisted homeless and needy people since 1974. More than 1,000 people benefit from the center’s programs every month.

“BTAC has been around for so long, people don’t realize that, without continued support, one day it just might not be there,” said Dave Allen, the church’s deacon of outreach. “We are committed to seeing that day never happens.”

This year’s honorees include Beth Sullivan, producer of the TV series “Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman,” and Grammy-winning vocalist Andrae Crouch, pastor of Christ Memorial Church in Pacoima. KTLA Morning News anchor Carlos Amezcua will be the master of ceremonies. The award recognizes leaders who have succeeded in “building bridges of understanding” among diverse communities in the Valley. Proceeds from the event will fund council services, which assist more than 350,000 San Fernando Valley residents.

HOLOCAUST INSURANCE CLAIMS: A panel of legal and legislative experts will lead the Holocaust Insurance Claims Information Program, sponsored by the Jewish Federation’s World Jewry Commission, from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at 22622 Vanowen St., West Hills. Panelists will discuss how some Holocaust survivors or heirs may qualify for their families’ unclaimed insurance, including dowry policies.
