Marching Band Plans Parade Fund-Raiser

Share

To help the Thousand Oaks High school marching band get to Pasadena for next year’s Rose Parade, boosters are planning a fund-raiser May 23.

The school was selected as the first Ventura County high school marching band to participate in the Tournament of Roses Parade since 1965.

Thousand Oaks High School’s Lancer Band and Color Guard were approved recently by the Rose Parade organizers to perform in the procession in Pasadena on Jan. 1, 1999.

To help pay the band’s expenses, there will be an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast beginning at 7:30 a.m. May 23 at the Thousand Oaks High School Cafe, 2323 N. Moorpark Road.

In addition to piles of pancakes served hot off the griddle, volunteers will be serving fruit, sausage and unlimited cups of coffee.

A highlight of the event, organizers promise, will be selections of jazz, patriotic and classical music played by ensembles from the Lancer band.

Admission to the event is $4 per person or $7 per couple.
