Mail Carriers Collecting Donated Food Saturday

WASHINGTON — Mail carriers across the country will be collecting donated food Saturday in their annual Stamp Out Hunger drive.
More than 100,000 carriers in all 50 states will take part, according to the National Assn. of Letter Carriers. Mail carriers take the donations to local food banks.
The letter carriers are asking people to leave nonperishable food donations--canned or other packaged goods--next to their mailbox before the regular mail delivery Saturday.
Last year, the drive collected 73 million pounds of food nationwide.
People can ask their local post office or mail carrier if they are participating in the drive.
