Webster Hubbell

Share

Not surprisingly, the usual suspects are grumbling about the release of the Hubbell tapes (“GOP Senator Predicts Fund-Raising Inquiry,” May 4). Are the American people not entitled to know about the results of their tax dollars at work? Maybe these self-serving elitists just don’t want to burden us with something as obscure as information. The usual suspects even seem to portray Webster Hubbell as a victim, but seem to forget that he is a convicted felon who stole money from his former partners.

The same usual suspects tell us that we cannot make our own educational choices, decide how to invest in our own retirement, choose our own doctors or decide how much to pay employees. It is almost comical to watch the usual suspects contort and annihilate reason and common sense in defense of stonewalling, bribery, corruption and ultimately treason. As the modern liberals continue to speak in defense of the indefensible, they only accelerate the demise of the Democratic Party, whose death throes we are now just beginning to witness.

Re “Clinton Confidant Hubbell Charged,” May 1:

With all the sanctimony he could muster, a spokesperson for independent counsel Kenneth Starr announced the indictment of Hubbell on tax and mail fraud charges, and alleged that Hubbell did “little or no work” for the consulting fees he received between 1994 and 1997.

While pursuing the vendetta against the president, how much “work” has the independent counsel done for his law associates to justify the $1-million-a-year fee, or salary, he is alleged to be receiving, some of which, incidentally, comes from tobacco sources?

What’s with Bill Clinton and Hubbell? They are sounding paranoid! Why should they be held responsible for their misdeeds when they have Starr (or others) to blame?
