The Los Angeles City Council voted Tuesday to offer a $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for killing a newborn boy whose body was found in a trash can near downtown Los Angeles.

The infant’s body was discovered just before 8 a.m. on March 12 at Pico Boulevard and Wall Street, said Los Angeles Police Capt. Stuart Maislin of the Juvenile Division.

“The boy was murdered shortly after birth, then left in the trash can,” Maislin said.

Anyone with information about the crime is urged to call police at (213) 485-4220.
