Lithuanian University Honors Professor

Irene L. Lange, a veteran Cal State Fullerton marketing professor, has become the first woman to receive an honorary doctorate from Kaunas University of Technology in Lithuania.

Lange, a fluent speaker of Russian, Lithuanian, German and English, was honored with the degree for her contribution in the establishment of Kaunas’ department of business administration.

She served on the university’s advisory board to establish the first business school in Lithuania after it severed its ties with the former Soviet Union.

Lange, who has been a faculty member at Cal State Fullerton since 1965, also coordinates the university’s international business program and specializes in marketing and marketing education in the former centrally planned economies of Eastern and Central Europe.

She also has served as a trade specialist for the U.S. Commerce Department and is considered an expert in her field.
