Five times in the past five months, a SuperLotto ticket sold in the county has hit the jackpot. It happened again Wednesday.

That bumfuzzles the oddsmakers, who calculate that a county Ventura’s size should pick only about two winners a year, statistically speaking. But it’s just fine with the five winners who, since January, have cashed in SuperLotto tickets worth more than $50 million.

So celebrate and cheer--but don’t bet the rent. A run of luck like this can stop as suddenly, and inexplicably, as it starts. Last year San Francisco County produced six winners in seven months. So far this year? Zip.
