Twins’ Ortiz to Have Wrist Surgery
Minnesota Twins rookie first baseman David Ortiz is expected to be out eight weeks after his right wrist was broken during Saturday night’s victory over the New York Yankees.
Ortiz, 22, who throws left-handed, will have surgery this week. He is hitting .306 with four homers and 20 RBIs. His slugging percentage of .531 is best among AL rookies.

Red Sox shortstop Nomar Garciaparra was sent back to Boston on Sunday for further examination by team physician Arthur Pappas. The Red Sox initially reported Garciaparra strained his right shoulder Friday night while diving for a ground single.
