ORANGE COUNTY EARNINGS

CalComp Technology Inc.: The Anaheim maker of computer graphics peripherals and supplies said it lost $18.3 million, or 39 cents a share, for the first quarter, compared with a net loss of $9.5 million, or 20 cents a share, for the 1997 first quarter. Sales declined 38% to $37.8 million from $60.5 million.

CalComp said its results were depressed by costs associated with new product development, as well as marketing and manufacturing costs related to launching new products.
