Carl D. Wills Jr.; African American Community Activist
Carl D. Wills Jr., 74, a community activist for African American causes. A native of Waco, Texas, Wills was in military service during World War II and then moved to Los Angeles to attend UCLA. A published poet and songwriter, Wills was active in local politics and sports and was a lifelong student of African American history. For many years, he worked as district supervisor for the federal Neighborhood Adult Participation Project. On May 6 in Los Angeles.
