Young Singers to Vie for Prizes on Saturday
Thirteen singers will compete in the Artists of the Future Voice Competition finals Saturday at 1 p.m. at Los Angeles Theatre Center, 514 S. Spring St.
Sponsored by the City of Los Angeles Cultural Affairs Department, the competition is open to nonprofessional singers, women ages 16 to 22 and men 17 to 23. The first-place winner will receive $2,000, the second- and third-place winners, $1,500 and $1,000, respectively.
Finalists are sopranos Kate O’Brian Oberjat, Sara Evelyn Edwards, Peggy Byul Lee, Susannah Murray, Lisa Christine Abel, Zanaida Noelle Stewart, Julia An and Amy Rogers; mezzo-soprano Sarah Anne Kleeman; tenors Haqumai W. Sharpe and Randy Guiaya; bass-baritone Adrian Gans; and bass Benjamin Allen Atrops.
