Musician Sandy Garcia, a Century High School student, will sing mariachi music during a benefit concert Saturday for the Santa Ana Unified School District.

The Santa Ana teen, who has a demo CD with original music written mostly by her father, Ciriaco Garcia, will open for the renowned Mariachi Los Camperos de Nati Cano during matinee and evening performances at Santa Ana High School.

In addition, 10-year-old actress and vocalist Meghan Gutierrez will sing. Meghan, who appeared in an episode of “Baywatch,” began her singing career two years ago and already has performed at a number of big mariachi festivals.

Mexican folkloric dancers also will perform at Saturday’s concert.

The event is expected to attract 3,000 people and raise about $70,000. Proceeds will go to the district’s Education Foundation, which offers student scholarships and after-school tutoring, supports the local classroom arts and technology programs and awards grants to teachers. “The foundation was established to support the school district to maximize student achievement and success,” said John Palacio, a foundation spokesman.

The musicians will perform at 4:30 p.m. and at 8 p.m. The school is at 520 W. Walnut St. Tickets range from $25 to $100 per person. Information: (714) 245-5008.
