The Madison Community Collaborative, an organization representing five schools in Van Nuys, will host a free health fair Saturday at Grant High School.

The fair will offer various free health screenings, including mammograms, dental care, vision checkups and immunizations, said Traci Williams, director of the collaborative’s Healthy Start program.

Other services will include testing for anemia and diabetes, blood pressure checks and pregnancy tests, Williams said. About 40 health-service providers and nonprofit agencies will conduct the tests and answer questions on health care.

“It’s a chance for the community to come by and receive a complete checkup,” Williams said.

Along with the health services, there will be food booths, games and raffles and live music and dance performances by students representing different schools in the Los Angeles Unified School District’s Van Nuys cluster.

Williams said she expects about 1,000 people to attend Saturday’s event, which will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the high school, 13000 Oxnard St.

The five Van Nuys schools in the collaborative are Madison Middle, Kittridge Street, Monlux, Erwin Street and Grant High. The collaborative was formed through the state’s Healthy Start grant.

Each year, the collaborative hosts the health fair and conducts various programs, all with the goal of linking students and their families with community agencies. For information on the fair, call (818) 503-1268.
