Bicycle Grand Prix Tops Activity List

The Warner Center Grand Prix of Bicycle Racing is scheduled for May 24 beginning at 8 a.m. in front of the Blue Cross building on Oxnard Street between Canoga Avenue and Owensmouth.

Races of various distances for men, women and juniors will be contested over a nearly one-mile course around the Warner Center in Woodland Hills. The 40-mile feature event is scheduled for 2:55 p.m..

Entry fees are from $10-$25 depending on race divisions. Admission is free and free parking will be available.

* Tryouts for the Northridge Boys’ Volleyball Club are scheduled from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday and May 31 at El Camino Real High.

* Tryouts for the Magic, a 16-and-under girls’ fast-pitch travel softball team, are scheduled for this weekend at Franklin Fields in Encino.

* Players are being sought for the Shilos’ girls’ 14-and-under Class A fast-pitch softball team.

The Northridge-based team includes players from the Valley area, Simi Valley, Moorpark and Thousand Oaks.

* Final tryouts for the Zuma Bay Boys’ Volleyball Club are scheduled for 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Thousand Oaks High gym.

Players are needed for 14-and-under, 16-and-under and 18-and-under teams.

There is a $20 fee to try out. Prospective players should bring a parent to sign a waiver form.
