* Nov. 28, 1972--Traded outfielders Frank Robinson and Bobby Valentine, pitchers Bill Singer and Mike Strahler, and third baseman Bill Grabarkewitz to the Angels for pitcher Andy Messersmith and third baseman Ken McMullen.

* Dec. 17, 1975--Traded outfielders Jimmy Wynn, Tom Paciorek and Lee Lacy and infielder Jerry Royster to the Atlanta Braves for outfielder Dusty Baker and infielder Ed Goodson.

* Nov. 27, 1991--Traded pitchers Tim Belcher and John Wetteland to the Cincinnati Reds for outfielder Eric Davis and pitcher Kip Davis.

* Dec. 11, 1987--Acquired infielder Alfredo Griffin, pitchers Jay Howell and Jesse Orosco in a three-team deal with the Oakland A’s and New York Mets that sent pitchers Bob Welch, Jack Savage and Matt Young to Oakland.

* Jan. 5, 1920--Boston Red Sox traded Babe Ruth to New York Yankees for $125,000.

* Dec. 20, 1926--St. Louis Cardinals traded second baseman Rogers Hornsby to New York Giants for second baseman Frank Frisch and pitcher Jimmy Ring.

* Aug. 3, 1960--Cleveland Indians traded Manager Joe Gordon to Detroit for Manager Jimmie Dykes.
